Ephesians 6 - The Armor of God - My Favorite Prayer
It is interesting that the end of Chapter 6 in Ephesians talks about putting on the full armor of God. Chapter 5 talks about marriage, and the beginning of chapter six, how to treat your parents and your children. Is it a coincidence that these most important chapters for our lives fall together? Of course not!
Verse 11 and 12 of Chapter 6 say “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles (plans) of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world., against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
“For we wrestle NOT against flesh and blood…” How easily we become offended though by flesh and blood. We have to constantly remind ourselves of this war around us and prepare ourselves for the battles we face daily, even hourly. Sometimes, the people we love the most, especially our spouses, are used as pawns of the devil to drive the sword deeper in our hearts. That is why we need to diligently put on the armor of God - to be prepared for whatever the devil plans for us - every day.
I try to put on my armor every day. What a difference it makes! Below is a powerful prayer I recite daily to do just that. It will make a huge difference in your life, and in your marriage, if you make this a habit in your life.
Ephesians Prayer
I am standing in You Lord, and in the power of Your might.
I put on the whole armor of God and do stand against the plans of the devil.
In the name of Jesus, I bind the principalities, the powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world. I bind and cast down spiritual wickedness in high places, and render them harmless and ineffective against me and my loved ones.
I resist you devil in the name of Jesus and I stand my ground!
I have the belt of truth buckled around my waste, the truth of God that sets me free.
I have on the breastplate of righteousness that covers my heart, my body, my vital organs and shows me I am in right standing with my God.
My feet are shod with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace, and I take those feet and I stomp on serpents and scorpions, for I have been given the authority over all your power, devil.
I place the helmet of salvation securely on my head for I have the mind of Christ.
The only spirit I will follow is the Spirit of the Living God which lives inside me and speaks to me from within.
I take the shield of faith and I quench every arrow you throw at me devil.
I take the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God, and I pierce through your wicked plans. For it is written, all I have to do is submit myself to God and tell you to flee, and you have to go - so GO in the Name of Jesus!
I place the blood of Jesus over me, my family, my homes, my debts, my cars, my possessions, all of which belong to God, and I serve notice that your power is broken devil, over me and mine, in the name of Jesus!
