You Are Not Alone - Everyone Has Problems

I think one of the biggest lies Satan tells us is that we are all alone in our problems.  No one else is going through struggles in their lives like we personally are, or so the devil would have us believe. Nothing could be farther from the truth.  Everyone deals with huge issues at one time or another in their lives, especially now with the plight of our economy and the decline of our country.  I would go so far to say that there may be no one problem free in this time in history.  Tighten your seatbelts – it may not get any better. As we face the end times we may see things we never dreamed possible.  We may continually struggle as times get harder and our trials get tougher.  It seems to me that God is preparing us all for – something.   He’s building our character and our strength.  Even mature Christians who have walked firmly along God’s path are finding challenges on their path like never before. So why do we still put on our “church faces” and act like all is we

Emotions - Don't Let Them Control Your Life

“Emotion   is the complex   psychophysiological   experience of an individual's state of mind as interacting with   biochemical   (internal) and   environmental   (external) influences. In   humans , emotion fundamentally involves " physiological arousal , expressive   behaviors , and   conscious experience ." Emotion is associated with   mood ,   temperament ,   personality   and   disposition , and   motivation . Motivations direct and energize behavior, while emotions provide the affective component to motivation, positive or negative."      Wikipedia                                                                                                                                                   Emotion.   It can rule us – it can ruin us.   It can make the difference between a ho-hum day and an incredible, over-the-top experience.   Unfortunately, too many of us allow our emotions to control our actions, our motivation, and our communication.   We ma

Stress and Communication

I got a speeding ticket the other day.  For someone who thrives on following rules and obeying the law, it was a devastating experience.  Driving around Orlando, I’d forgotten the speed limit on a street I’d traveled often before.  As I drove on this four lane street, another car entered the center median to head the same direction as me.  I wasn’t sure that she saw me so I sped up to get ahead of her.  I could have gotten in the right lane to get out of her way, but I was turning left in a couple blocks and didn’t think to do that.  Sure enough, I was traveling well over the speed limit (as I passed the speed limit sign no less) and was pulled over. Now I don’t know about you, but I don’t handle confrontation well.  I became a blithering idiot when the cop motioned me over.  My eyes became fuzzy and my speech began to slur.  As I’m looking for my registration and insurance, the pages appeared blank to me.  The policeman is verbally helping me search for them in my handy-dandy pa

Sober Security

Last week, I discussed dealing with suffering, especially as we face the end times.  When we know God’s word and believe in His truth, we have no reason to fear what lies ahead of us.   We should “await His return with expectancy and anticipation” (taken from the following devotional). The words below come from the Presidential Prayer Team,  a devotional I receive daily that encourages people to pray for the president and other politicians, that they would do what is right for our country and according to God’s will. Sober Security Over 1,500 people died when the Titanic sank nearly a century ago. So, too, many more will be unprepared for the cataclysmic end-times events still to come because they did not hear God's Word or heed His warning. The common element - a sense of false security. "Let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation."    I Thessalonians 5:8 Think of it. Many people today are drunk
