Embrace Your Faith

Most of us are familiar with Jesus’ first miracle - turning water into wine at the wedding feast.  John 2:11 says, “This, is the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed at Cana in Galilee.  He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in Him.”

Witnessing a miracle of God is a surefire way to strengthen your faith.  Jesus used these miracles as a tool to ignite the faith in many.

Our faith continues to grow as Christians and we have a choice whether to feed it or let it fade.  It would be nice to witness miracles continuously to strengthen our faith, but that is not how God works.  We have to embrace it without the physical evidence.

I talk often about putting on the armor of God because it takes a conscious effort to embrace your faith.  Ephesians 6:16 tells us, “In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.”

The enemy will try to sidetrack you from God's plan when you let your defenses down, when your faith is weak.

Paul talks to the Thessalonians in I Thessalonians 3:5, saying, “For this reason, when I could stand it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith.  I was afraid that in some way the tempter might have tempted you and our efforts might have been useless.”

Know that there is a devil out there trying his very best to destroy your faith in God.

Even as born-again, spirit-filled, Bible believing Christians, we have countless moments of vulnerability to Satan if we don’t keep our faith fed.

We can increase our faith by putting our faith in the power of God, not the wisdom of men.

I Corinthians 2:4-5 - (Paul speaking to the Corinthians) - “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.”

Because we live in this world and become engaged in it, we often make our decisions according to the wisdom of men.  I have made many a mistake by not seeking God’s will for me first.  The more we ask God’s guidance for every thing we do, the stronger our faith will grow.

I no longer desire to live my life my way, or according to how the world would tell me to live it.  Life becomes much more meaningful and more peaceful when you seek the wisdom of God before making any decisions.  Faith is knowing that God can do it much better than you could ever imagine.
